How Much To Feed

Several factors determine the amount of food to feed your pet pig:

  • The age of the pig
  • The pig’s individual metabolic rate
  • The pig’s level of activity and exercise
  • The pig’s current body condition

Use good judgment, and watch your pig’s condition. If you are feeding the recomĀmended diet and your pig gains weight, reduce the amount of feed. If it appears too thin, increase the feed.

The following chart shows a basic, complete, well-rounded diet for the average pig; you may wish to consider it for your miniature pig. Based on the needs of an average-sized potbelly pig, the ration averages out to one-half cup per 25 pounds of body weight.

The amounts are “per day” and should be divided into two equal feedings.
